What is Top Rated Seller on eBay & What Are the Benefits of TRS

One question that we have seen in the eBay community is “what is top-rated seller and what are the benefits of being one”?

Top-rated seller is a status that eBay gives t0 someone who meets certain requirements.

Those requirements are:

Recommended Tips:

  • an active seller on eBay for 90 days
  • 100 transactions in the last 12 months (US based transactions)
  • $1000 in sales in the last 12 months (US based transactions)
  • 0.5% defect rate
  • 3% late shipments

As far as benefits go, just being a top rated seller – there really isn’t a benefit except for the fact that you look good in eBay’s eyes. What you really want is to be the Top-Rated Seller Plus.

In order to be Top-Rated Seller Plus you have to have:

  • a minimum of 30 day return policy
  • ship your items with a one-day or same-day handling time

The reason why you want to have that Top-Rated Seller Plus is because then you’ll receive a 20% discount on your final value fees

Also remember that in order to be the Top-Rated Seller Plus you have to be top-rated so you need to meet all of these requirements to get that 20% discount. ALso, when you’re Top-Rated Seller Plus they put a little seal on your listings you’ll see it off to the right when you’re looking on a desktop computer

It really isn’t too difficult to make these requirements…  100 transactions in 12 months and $1000 dollars in sales in 12 months. Those are the biggest things to watch for.

As long as you’re you know you have a good return policy, you have a good refund policy, customers are happy, you’re making sure that items that your listing our quality, and you’re checking for flaws and making sure to note them, you should be fine with the rest of the requirements.
